Amprobe 570 multimeter is a digital multimeter that has all the functions one could want from such a device. This is a multimeter from 57* series. This model is the best one in the series, by the number of its features and by quality.

For whom is Amprobe AM-570 intended

Users that work in low light environments will benefit the most from Amprobe AM-570 because it has some specific improvements that other multimeters in this price range don’t have, but you can read more about the specifics of those improvements further in the article.

Amprobe AM-570 isn’t for new users. In fact, this multimeter is not made for anyone who does not know how to utilize this device in a way that exploits Amprobe AM-570’s full potential. This multimeter is designed for professionals that work in industrial settings and low light environments. By the way, this multimeter is one of the best multimeters for low light environments in its price range (Read customers reviews).

By itself, Amprobe AM-570 is not very difficult to use, but the sheer number of features can be overwhelming for inexperienced users.

What’s included

Amprobe AM-570 is shipped with two standard multimeter test leads and two gator clips that can be screwed on the probes.

It would have been nice if they had included the protective case and caps for the test leads but it does not matter anyway.

The thing that does matter is that Amprobe AM-570 has the function to measure temperature, however, the temperature probes aren’t included in the package and that’s a real shame. If they had included temperature probes that are made like standard test probes that are included, it would have been truly great.

However, even as it is, the content of this package will enable the user to utilize this meter to its maximum power measuring potential.

Features

Temperature probes are accurate and made from tough plastic.

Gator probes that are shipped with this multimeter, in fact not probes at all. In order for you to use them, you need to insert the standard multimeter test leads in them.

The lack of temperature probes and protective caps for standard test leads reduces the overall impression of this product.

Test leads seem to be long enough for the user to measure everything in his range.

While using the standard test leads, one needs to be careful not to bend them at the joints because that can break the wires that aren’t soldered as good on the inside, as they should have been.

Features built for low light environments

The truly unique feature that this multimeter has is its flashlight on the front. This positioning will bring great benefit for users that work in low light areas and in industrial settings where there is light, but there simply isn’t enough of it for the worker to see clearly.

The backlight is very strong and that is very good unless you need to work in low light environments for extended periods of time. In that case, this feature can cause eye strain.

Measurement settings

Amprobe AM-570 has more measurement settings than other multimeters. This multimeter can measure AC and DC voltage to 600 V, resistance, AC  and DC current up to 10 amps, capacitance, resistance up to 40 megaohms, duty cycles, microamps and so on in all sorts of environments.

From heating, ventilation and air conditioning, to car repair and installing fuse boxes, Amprobe AM-570 will be useful to its owner.

All of those settings work well and most of them don’t need any additional calibration.

If you decide to use the temperature measuring function, besides getting temperature probes, you will also need to calibrate that function, since it could use some calibration.

True RMS feature works well and provides fast readings.

Amprobe AM-570 does not have a magnet on the back, but that’s perfectly fine considering that this meter will probably be used the most by electricians and any metallic object on the back could endanger them.

Quality of build and safety

The casing is sturdy and the rubber glove that envelops the casing is thick enough to protect the casing and the insides of Amprobe AM-570 from damage caused by a light or somewhat moderate force. The back of the casing contains a pair of nice probe holders that make it possible for the user to hold the multimeter and one probe on the back in one hand and the other probe in another hand while saving some effort.

  • Amprobe AM-570 is CAT III and CAT IV certified.
  • The true RMS feature is fused.
  • The insides contain a couple of smaller blast shields and the fuses installed are quality fuses that will protect you if needed.

Ease of use

This multimeter is not so easy to use for the new user. But in the hands of an experienced professional, Amprobe AM-570 will prove to be the best choice. This multimeter gives the user a variety of settings to choose from and all of those settings provide accurate results.
